Thank you for appointing me mediator to resolve the above dispute/I note that I have recently been appointed by Appointing Agency to mediate the above dispute.

Please note that I propose to hold a preliminary conference by telephone at (time) on (date).

The items for discussion at that meeting are:

(a)	confirmation that the enclosed mediation agreement is agreeable and if not any amendments that are required;

(b)	the timetable for the provision of position papers and documents to me;

(c)	a time and location for each party to meet with me prior to the mediation (if required);

(d)	the timetable for the subsequent exchange of position papers and documents;

(e)	the time, place and location of the mediation including whether or not a sandwich lunch should be organised and if so by whom; and

(f)	confirmation of who is to attend the mediation (or a timetable for the provision of same) and whether or not the parties require confidentiality agreements for those persons.
